MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine's Emily Wynne scored the lone goal of the game in the 58th minute to lead the 11th-ranked Waves over UNLV 1-0 in women's collegiate soccer action on Friday afternoon. The Rebels, who were shutout for the third time in the last four games, fell to 3-3-3 overall, while Pepperdine improved its school-record start to 7-0-1.
Wynne's goal came from 15 yards out on the left side at 57:49, off assists from Samantha Hire and Jenna Fodor. UNLV had its chances in tie the game, finishing with 13 shots for the afternoon, but Pepperdine goalie Anna Picarelli posted five saves to earn the shutout.
The Waves finished with a 16-13 edge on shots, though the Rebels did earn seven corner kicks to four for Pepperdine. Rebel goalkeeper Ciera Nero finished with six saves and one goal allowed in 90 minutes of play.
UNLV returns to action on Sunday against UC Irvine at 1 pm in Irvine, Calif.
