COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV scored twice in the second half to top Air Force 2-0 Friday night in a driving snowstorm in Mountain West Conference women's soccer action from Cadet Soccer Stadium. The win was the third straight for the Rebels in league play, moving them to 8-8-1 overall, and into third place in the conference with a 3-2 record. Air Force dropped to 3-11-3, 0-4-1 in the MWC.

Neither team scored in the first half, though the Falcons had the best chance when Melinda Mokos took a shot from the top of the box that got past Rebel goalkeeper Ciera Nero, but was stopped at the goalline by defender Dani Morin.

UNLV scored the game-winner in the 63rd minute, when Haley Partridge blasted a shot to the back of the goal for a 1-0 Rebel lead, with Jessica Destito assisting in the score. The game was sealed in the 79th minute, when UNLV was awarded a penalty kick following a handball in the box. Tanya Roberts converted the penalty kick, putting UNLV up 2-0, and Air Force was forced to play down a player the rest of the game as the handball was the second yellow card on Kelsey Yip.

The Rebels held an 18-10 edge on shots, and 9-2 advantage on corner kicks. Nero finished with four saves in goal, while Air Force's Erin Wallace was credited with five saves in the loss.

UNLV returns to action on Sunday, as it hosts Wyoming in a Senior Day matchup at 1 pm at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
