LAS VEGAS - UNLV Athletics will be participating in the Toys for Tots toy drive presented by the Marine Corps, this Sunday-Tuesday, December 17-19, as the men's basketball team hosts the Duel in the Desert at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Fans who bring an unwrapped new toy donation to any of the Duel in the Desert games will receive a balcony-level ticket for just five dollars. The tournament features the Runnin' Rebels along with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Norfolk State and South Florida. A doubleheader will be played each day with the first game starting at 5 p.m. and UNLV playing at 7:30 p.m. each night.
All proceeds from this ticket promotion will go to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Drive, which benefits needy children in Las Vegas.
Bins will be located outside the Thomas & Mack Center ticket office to collect the toys beginning Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3:00 p.m. The ticket offer is valid only for a five dollar ticket to the game the same day the toy is dropped off. The offer is good for both games on each day. One five dollar ticket may be purchased with each toy donated. The ticket office will be open 10 am until 8:30 p.m. each day of the tournament.
UNLV is 7-2 on the season and has won three straight games, including at Hawaii on Dec. 5 and at then-No. 20 Nevada, Reno last Saturday, which was perhaps its biggest non-conference win since 1991.
