UNLV Sprints Past South Florida, 74-59

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Wendell White had 24 points and 11 rebounds and Wink Adams scored 14 points Tuesday night to lead UNLV to a 74-59 victory over South Florida in the Duel in the Desert.

UNLV (10-2) forced 23 turnovers, blocked nine shots and scored 17 fast-break points to finish the four-team round-robin event with a 3-0 record.

The Rebels have won six straight and eight of nine.

They used a steal and fast-break dunk from White and a 3-pointer from Kevin Kruger to spark an 18-3 second half run that gave them a 64-48 lead with 6:06 to play.

Kruger had 14 points for UNLV and Gaston Essengue added 10.

Solomon Bozeman scored 15 points for South Florida (7-3), Jesus Verdejo scored 14, and Kentrell Gransberry had a game-high 17 rebounds.

The Bulls won their tournament opener, but lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UNLV to finish 1-2 in Las Vegas. UNLV stole the ball 14 times against USF, while the Bulls had just one steal.
