HOUSTON (AP) - Wink Adams' 17 points led four UNLV players in double digits as the Runnin' Rebels beat Houston 78-62 on Saturday night for their ninth straight win. At 13-2, it marks the best start to a season for UNLV since the 1992-93 season.
The Runnin' Rebels never trailed after taking an early 12-11 lead and built as much as a 22-point advantage in the second half.
Houston was plagued by poor shooting. The Cougars made just 3-of-24 attempts from 3-point range and 9-of-33 overall from the field in the opening half.
For the game, Houston (5-6) sank just 5 of 36 3-pointers.
Wendell White added 14 points for the Rebels while Gaston Essengue scored 11. Oliver Lafayette led Houston with 16 points, and Dion Dowell added 14.
The Rebels built a 34-26 halftime lead.
