LAS VEGAS - The 59th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team won its fourth straight match, 5-2 over New Mexico State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Saturday.
The Rebels improved to 5-1 while the Aggies saw their four-match winning streak snapped to fall to 5-2 overall.
UNLV began the morning by sweeping three doubles matches for one team point.
In singles play, the Rebels won four of six matches -- all in straight sets. Senior Joel Kielbowicz swept Stjepan Beg 6-3, 6-2 at the top position, Brett Hunter won 6-4, 6-4 over Roman Stoisavljevic at No. 3, freshman Elliot Wronski improved to 6-0 on the year with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ricardo Gorostiaga at No. 5, and Jonathan Hooper won 6-4, 7-5 over Tim America on court six.
"Once again we played well in doubles, which set us up for success in singles," UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "This was a solid win against a solid opponent from our region. Now we have to focus on finishing the weekend out strong."
The Rebels host UC Riverside on Sunday at 10 a.m.
