LAS VEGAS - The All-Mountain West Conference softball awards were announced today and UNLV's Brittany Freight was the lone Rebel honored. The all-conference team and individual awards were voted on by the league's six head coaches.
Freight, a junior from Placentia, Calif., has started and played in every game thus far in the 2006 season. She leads the Rebels in hits with 51. She holds a .267 batting average through 13 weeks of play. She hit one home run and scattered eight doubles. She has touched home plate the third-most amongst all Rebels, as she has scored 27 times. On the base paths, she is 10 for 12 in steal attempts. Defensively, she holds a .952 fielding percentage with only three errors committed in 62 opportunities.
In conference play, she is hitting a team-leading .357. She has 25 hits, two of which went for two-bases. She has scored nine times and stolen four bases. In the outfield, she is perfect in 21 chances.
