LAS VEGAS - First year UNLV men's head soccer coach Mario Sanchez has been named as the new Head Coach of the West Region 90s Boys Age Group Team, it was announced by the U.S. Youth Soccer Federation last week.
Sanchez, who was named as the Rebels' head coach back in January of this year, takes over for Paul Bravo, who left for an assistant coaching position for the MLS's L.A. Galaxy.
As head coach of the 90s team, Sanchez will be in charge of selecting the players for the team from among the best players in the Western U.S., players who will not only represent the West but one day could be playing for the U.S. national team. Sanchez will also be responsible for running the training camp, which will be held on July 16-25, and coaching them in international competition in the spring of 2007.
"For me, it's a great honor to be selected by the US Youth Soccer Federation as the head coach for the 90s Boys team, and I am looking forward to working with the top up-and-coming players in the region," said Sanchez.
