Rebels Shut Out At San Diego

SAN DIEGO - No. 22 San Diego scored twice in the last 18 minutes of the game to put away UNLV 2-0 on Friday night in women's collegiate soccer action.

Though UNLV (2-4-1) was keeping the Toreros out of the goal for the majority of the game, the Rebels were not able to come up with offensive of their own. UNLV was held to just one shot total in the game, and none in the second half, while San Diego (6-1) finished the game with 13. USD also held an 8-0 edge on corner kicks.

The game-winner was scored by Veronica Ambort, off of a corner kick from Vanessa Vella in the 73rd minute. The Toreros then sealed the game with a score in the 85th minute, when Leigh Ann Robinson scored on a breakaway. Natalie Vinti was credited with the assist.

The Rebels will return to action on Sunday, taking on Southern California in Los Angeles at 1 pm.
