COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Once again the UNLV men's soccer team came close to claiming its first win of the season, but a second half goal, this time in the final minute of the first overtime, sent the Rebels to a 1-0 loss at Air Force on Friday night. The loss leaves UNLV at 0-7-2 on the season, while the Falcons improved to 2-6-1 in the season opener for both teams.

The Rebels played strong defense in the game, holding Air Force to just one shot on goal in the first 99 minutes of the game. However, Steve Noller took a shot in the 100th minute that was initially blocked by Rebel goalkeeper Calvin Bailey. The ball would be deflected back out to Noller, who sent it to the back of the net for the golden goal at 99:11.

"We played really well tonight, we were more focused, and a tie would have been a much more fair account for the effort by both teams tonight," said UNLV head coach Mario Sanchez.

UNLV finished the game with seven shots to 15 for the home team. Both teams finished with two saves each.

The Rebels continue conference play on the road, taking on Denver on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 12 pm (PST).
