LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's soccer team, which won its third straight Mountain West Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season, held its postseason banquet on Friday night, and three Rebels received team awards.
Tanya Roberts was named the Team MVP. A senior midfielder and native of Fremont, Calif., Roberts was both a NSCAA All-Region third team and first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection after scoring four goals on the year, all game-winners, and adding three assists. She was also named the MWC Tournament MVP after leading the Rebels to their second-straight tournament title, and to its third-straight NCAA Appearance.
Armani Rice, junior midfielder, received the team's offensive MVP honor. A native of Parker, Colo., Rice tied for the team lead in points with 11, and paced the Rebels in both goals (5) and game-winners (4). She also converted the winning PK in UNLV's shootout victory over Utah to claim the 2006 MWC Tournament Title, and was a MWC second-team selection.
Brie Kuhne was named Defensive MVP. A native of San Diego, Calif., Kuhne was named first-team All-Mountain West while helping UNLV post 10 shutouts during the season, and have a overall team GAA of 1.21.
Manager Mark Olson also received the Robin Morlock Coaches' Award.
