SAN DIEGO, Calif. - 2007 Mountain West Conference Championships Results

UNLV women's track and field freshman Charlotte Browning won the 1,500 meters to highlight the Rebels at the final day of competition at the 2007 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday.

Browning crossed the finish line at the SDSU Sports Deck in a time of 4:24.16, becoming the first Rebel to win an event at the MWC Outdoor Championships since Halima DeCree won the 100 during the 2005 league meet. She was one of three Rebel individuals and two relay teams that scored points for UNLV at the meet. Browning was also named the MWC Freshman of the Year.

Overall the Rebels finished in ninth with a total of 18 points. BYU once again won the league crown, racking up 195 points while TCU was second with 152 and San Diego State came in third with 128.

Rebel freshman Aja Evans emerged from the shot put ring with a sixth place finish, heaving the metal ball 45'-1.00" to score UNLV three points. On Friday junior thrower Monique Humphries earned the Rebels three points by finishing sixth in the hammer with a throw of 158'-5.00" in the event.

On the track the Rebel 4x100 (47.34) and 4x400 (3:55.76) both finished in eighth place on Saturday, scoring one point each for head coach Barbara Ferrell-Edmonson's squad.

UNLV has three student-athletes who will be moving on to the NCAA West Regional, which will be hosted by the University of Oregon on May 24-26. Browning in the 1,500 meters and Evans in the shot put will be joined by Meia Tezeno, who qualified in both the long jump and the 100 meter hurdles.
