Rebels Rack Up Conference Hardware

LAS VEGAS - The Mountain West All-Conference softball awards as selected by the league's six head coaches were announced today. UNLV took two of the four main awards with Lonni Alameda being named the Coach of the Year and Christie Robinson taking Pitcher of the year honors. BYU's Jodi Norton was named the Player of the Year, while Ashley Munoz was the Freshman of the Year.

This was the second time in the past three years that Alameda has been named the MWC's Coach of the Year. She previously took home the award for her efforts in the 2005 campaign.

Robinson went 5-0 in conference play, including three complete games. She finished third in MWC play in ERA (2.24), fourth in wins (5), seventh for innings pitched (50.0) and eighth for opposing batting average (.278). Robinson was also named the MWC Player of the Week three times this season.

The 20-member all-conference team includes five players from regular-season champion BYU and Colorado State, four players from San Diego State, three players from UNLV, two from Utah and one from New Mexico.
