Neagle Earns National Honor

Sept. 24, 2007

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's Lamar Neagle picked up his second national weekly honor of his career on Monday, as he was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week for the week ending Sept. 23.

Neagle, a senior forward and native of Federal Way, Wash., earned the honor after being involved in all three of UNLV's goals over the past weekend, as the Rebels earned a win and a tie in the UNLV Rebel Classic. Against regionally ranked Drake on Sept. 21, the Rebels were trailing by two with nine minutes to play, but Neagle scored twice in an eight-minute span, including one with 45 seconds left in the game, to tie the score and send it into overtime. The game would end in a 2-2 double-overtime tie, and Neagle finished with the first two-goal game of his career. He followed that up on Sept. 22 by setting up the game-winning score, when he dribbled through three defenders before passing off to Daniel Cruz who scored the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Missouri State.

For the season, Neagle leads the team and is tied for first in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation with 10 points on the season. He is also tied for first with four goals, and tied for fifth with two assists.

UNLV, 3-3-2 overall, will play just one game this week, as it hosts Cal State Bakersfield on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 pm at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
