LAS VEGAS - Three UNLV singles players are still alive after two rounds of play on Wednesday at the ITA Region 7 Men's Tennis Championships being held at the Darling Memorial Tennis Center.

Rebel senior standout Elliot Wronski, seeded second, enjoyed a bye before getting past Jason Smits of Utah 6-3, 7-6. Luca Barlocchi, seeded eighth, had a bye and then dispatched another Ute player, Othman Ouariti Zerouali, 6-2, 6-2. Joining them in the Round of 32 on Friday will be Wesley Burrows, who downed Frederick Walsh of Boise State 6-3, 6-4 in his opener before defeating Jakub Dybala of Montana State 6-3, 6-3 to advance.

In doubles, two Rebel teams are still alive after one round. Wronski and Barlocchi, seeded third, earned a bye while Burrows and Attila Toth won their first-round match, 8-4, over Robin Pezzuto and Andrew Reiff of Northern Arizona.

"It was good to see everyone competing hard today and a couple of matches could have gone the other way," UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "We are looking forward to another long day of competition out here on Thursday."

Members from 14 western teams are facing off here as individuals through Sunday in both singles and doubles. No less than 17 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women are taking place over the last two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles finalists and doubles champion from this event will earn spots in the November 6-9 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Virginia.
