Barlocchi Ends Run In Semifinals

LAS VEGAS - UNLV junior Luca Barlocchi saw his impressive run end in Saturday's semifinals of the ITA Region 7 Men's Tennis Championships being held at the Darling Memorial Tennis Center.

The Swiss import, seeded eighth, was defeated by the University of Denver's 28th-seeded Martin Zimmerman 6-3, 6-1. The Rebels' only other remaining match in the event came in consolation singles where Wesley Burrows fell to 30th-seeded Cristian Hodel of Boise State 6-3, 6-4.

"I'm very proud of Luca's performance this week and his results showed that he is one of the top players in the region," said UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook. "We played some good tennis this week and think it will help us as a team. We're looking forward to our final fall tournament and getting ready for the spring."

The will Rebels host the UNLV Classic on Halloween weekend to close their tournament schedule.
