LAS VEGAS - UNLV's Ashleigh Shoughro was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday. Shoughro is the second Rebel to earn weekly honors this season, and it's the first weekly MWC honor in her career.
A Las Vegas native who played her freshman year at San Diego, the sophomore forward had a hand in both of UNLV's goals in its 2-1 win at San Diego State on Oct. 3. In the league opener for both teams, Shoughro scored the Rebels' first goal of the game in the 17th minute to tie the score at 1-1. She then assisted on the game-winning score by Haley Partridge in the 59th minute. The win gave UNLV its second win all-time on the Aztecs homefield. With the goal and assist, Shoughro now leads the Rebels with seven goals and four assists on the season, and her 18 points is tied for the eighth-best mark in a season in team history.
UNLV (9-3-1, 1-0 MWC) will return to action on Thursday night at BYU in Provo, Utah at 6 pm (PST).
