Oct. 9, 2008

LAS VEGAS - Top UNLV tennis player Elliot Wronski is heading home after losing both of his matches on Thursday at the D'Novo ITA Men's All-American Championships, which are being held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Playing in the main draw's first round, the 49th-ranked Wronksi, a senior from Cheltenham, England, got off to a fast start and was just two games away from upsetting 12th-seeded Nate Schnugg of Georgia, but lost the second set and the match, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Facing Stanford's 66th-ranked Richard Wire later in the day as part of the consolation bracket, Wronski dropped a first-set tiebreaker 7-5 and ultimately was eliminated 7-6, 6-1.
