LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's basketball team opens the 2008-09 season on Friday night against Sacramento State at 7 pm in the Cox Pavilion. Not only are tickets just $1 for Friday's contest, but the night is also "Rebel Reunion", featuring the Lady Rebel alumni.

The 2008-09 season begins "A New Era" for UNLV, as former Lady Rebel All-American Kathy Olivier has returned as head coach of her alma mater. Eleven players return for UNLV, highlighted by two-time all-conference senior center Shamela Hampton.

Friday night is also the second day of the UNLV food drive that is behind held at three Rebel games. All fans are encouraged to bring two canned food items to the game. Fans can also bring two cans to both the UNLV football game against Wyoming on Thursday, and to the UNLV Runnin' Rebels game against San Diego on Saturday at 2:30 pm.
