Rebels End Season This Weekend

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's soccer team hopes to end its season with a winning record for the first time since 2002 as it hosts Denver and Air Force this weekend. First up is a contest against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation leader Denver on Friday at 7 pm, followed by a Senior Day contest against Air Force on Sunday at 1 pm, with both games being played at Peter Johann Memorial Field.

UNLV (8-7-1, 3-5 MPSF) are coming off a tough weekend in which it lost a pair of overtime games on the road, at Sacramento State and San Jose State. The Rebels have been tough at home though this year, as they are 6-1 and undefeated in league play. Leading the team is the MPSF's leading scorer, senior Lamar Neagle, with nine goals for 18 points. Danny Cruz is next with 13 points off five goals and three assists. In goal is senior Hawk Mummey, who is posting a 1.15 GAA with 66 saves and two shutouts.

Denver (9-5-2) has already claimed the MPSF championship as it brings a 7-0-1 conference record into Las Vegas, which includes a 1-0 win over UNLV in Denver last month. The Pioneers are paced this year by Kyle Christensen with five goals, while Joe Mathot has seven assists. In goal is Joe Willis, with a 0.96 GAA.

Air Force (4-12, 2-8 MPSF) also defeated UNLV by a 1-0 score on the Falcons' home field to begin the conference season. The team is led by Steven Noller with four goals, with Kevin Rosser topping the assists with three. In goal is Jim Gullo, who has a 1.63 GAA this season.
