Final Stats

Fullerton, Calif. - The UNLV Rebels (19-19-1) dropped a 5-2 contest to the #20 Long Beach State 49ers (24-9) on Saturday night in Cal State Fullerton's Judi Garman Classic at the Anderson Family Field. After five scoreless frames the game turned with all seven runs coming in the sixth inning with all but one off of a home run.

After leaving four runners stranded through five innings of play, two of which were left at third base, Jaci Hull delivered her first home run in 20 games to give UNLV a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Hull opposite-field blast cleared the fence in left field and scored Stephanie Bean from first base.

The 49ers countered with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning with help from two hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch.

UNLV's Stephanie Bregante worked her way out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning, but ran into trouble in the sixth. Jonae Perez led off inning with a bloop single to left while the next two batters were walked. Brooke LeSage was credited with LBSU's first RBI when she was hit by a Bregante offering for the second time in the game. Danielle Linke cleared the bases with a grand slam to turn the tide of the game.

Bridgette Pagano took the win for LBSU and improved to 10-5 with the complete-game win. Pagano allowed two runs on five hits, while walking out two.

Bregante falls to 10-11 on the year in 6.0 innings of work. She gave up five runs on four hits with three walks and one strikeout.

The Rebels will take next weekend off and return to action on April 2 (5:00 pm), when Southern Utah comes to Las Vegas for a doubleheader.
