Final Stats
LOS ANGELES - The UNLV Rebels (13-9-1) dropped a 1-0 decision to the #2 UCLA Bruins (20-2) on Wednesday afternoon at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles.
The Bruins snapped a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning with the only run of the game. Samantha Camuso led off the frame with a double to deep center off a Stephanie Bregante offering. Jennifer Schroeder pushed Camuso to third with a sacrifice bunt. Julie Burney then delivered a single through the left side to plate Camuso.
Anjelica Seldon improved to 10-1 on the year with 13 strikeouts in a complete-game victory. Seldon faced only one batter over the minimum, as her only blemish was a two-out single given up to Rosa Ordaz in the fourth.
Bregante falls to 6-6 on the year in the loss. She tossed 6.0 innings and only surrendered one run on four hits. She struck out two and walked two.
The Rebels return home this weekend for their UNLV Invitational (March 7-9) at Eller Media Stadium. UNLV will play a pair of contests on Friday evening against Portland State (6:00 pm) and Ohio State (8:15 pm). Oregon, Southern Utah and New Mexico State round out the six-team field.
