Week 11.2 Recap: The Rebels continued their road swing last weekend with a single game at Northern Colorado (April 17), a doubleheader at Colorado State (April 18) and then a two-game set at New Mexico (April 19-20). Overall, UNLV went 2-3 with the games vs. CSU and UNM counting in the Mountain West Conference standings.
At Northern Colorado, UNLV took a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning, but that was all the run support that Stephanie Bregante would get in the 5-1 loss. UNC put together a five-hit inning to take control of the game with four tallies in the third. They added an insurance run in the fourth, as well.
In game one at CSU, 27 runs and 31 hits were tallied in the contest. UNLV rallied from a 11-10 deficit to take a 13-11 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. CSU managed three runs off of three hits and got help from an error to win 14-13.
In game two at CSU, UNLV held a 4-0 lead after its third-inning at-bat. After five innings of play the score stood at 6-4 in the Rebels' favor. The Rams pulled within one with a score in the fifth, but got a two-run, walk-off home run to turn the tide on UNLV and win by a 7-6 margin.
In game one at UNM, the Rebel bats stayed lively with 15 hits leading to 14 runs and a 14-5 win. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak. The Lobos took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, but watched UNLV tie the game up in the second and take control of it in the third. The Rebels had got four runs in the third before collecting three in the sixth and five more in the seventh. The 14 runs were a season-high for UNLV.
In game two at UNM, UNLV fell behind 1-0 after one only to duplicate its previous effort from the day before against the Lobos. The Rebels grabbed the reigns of the game with four runs in the second and added an insurance run in the third and held on for a 5-3 win.
An Offensive Explosion: Prior to UNLV's last four games the squad had only scored in double-figures four times and amassed more than 10+ hits on six occasions.
In the team's doubleheader at Colorado State and the two games at New Mexico this past weekend, the Rebels tallied two double-digit run outings, while all four featured 10 or more hits.
In all, UNLV scored 38 runs and scattered 51 hits in those four games.
The last time the Rebels had scored that amount of runs and collected that many hits was in 2007. The team scored 40 runs in a four-game stretch (Feb. 10-11) and collected 53 hits (April 14-18).
