PROVO, Utah - The UNLV Rebels suffered their fourth straight one-run loss with tonight's 3-2 edging by the BYU Cougars at Miller Field in Provo, Utah. The Rebels held a 2-0 lead through 3.5 innings of play only to watch the Cougars score three unanswered runs to claim the game. BYU improves to 35-16 overall and 9-4 in Mountain West Conference action, while UNLV drops to 23-33-1 and 3-10, respectively.

UNLV broke open a scoreless game with two runs on two hits in the fourth. Rosa Ordaz led off the frame with a walk issued by Christie Zinanti. Ashli Holland followed with a double to deep left-center field. Holland took third on a groundout before scoring on a sacrifice fly hit to left field by Jessica DeMatteo.

Dani Snow and Cashjen Davis pulled BYU even with solo home runs in the fourth and fifth innings off of Stephanie Bregante. Snow hit a blast to deep left to score the Cougars' first run, while Davis drilled a shot off of the foul pole down the left-field line to knot the game at 2-2.

The Cougars loaded the bases in the seventh with no outs on two singles and a fielder's choice bunt. Heather Slettvet, who entered the game in relief in the sixth, mustered two quick outs to bring up the decisive batter. With the fate of the inning resting on Kristen Delahoussaye, she managed to hit a grounder to Holland at second. Holland bobbled the ball and was unable to get Delahoussaye at first before the winning run crossed the plate.

Zinanti improved to 11-7 with a complete-game effort. She allowed two runs on five hits with six strikeouts to one walk.

Slettvet suffers the loss and falls to 3-13 on the year in 1.2 innings of relief. She gave up one run on three hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Bregante earned a no-decision in 5.0 innings pitched in the start. She surrendered two runs on three hits and struck out three Cougars.
