LAS VEGAS - The Mountain West All-Conference softball awards, as selected by the league's six head coaches, were announced today. UNLV placed three student-athletes (Ashli Holland, Brittany Bolinger and Jaci Hull) on the 20-member squad.
Holland, a freshman from Arvada, Colo., finished conference action second in doubles (seven), third in hits (24), fifth in batting average (.387), sixth in runs scored (14) and seventh in total bases (34), with all those leading the Rebels, as well. In the 20-game league season, she owned seven multiple-hit games and collected at least one hit in 16 contests. She was one of two Rebels, joining Bolinger, to have started all 66 games this season. Overall, she hit .270 on the year with 47 hits, which included 10 doubles and three home runs. She upped her batting average 116-points over the final 27 games with hits in all but five of them. In that 27-game stretch she owned two eight-game hitting streaks. On the year, she knocked in 26 RBI and scored 30 runs.
Bolinger, a junior from Yucaipa, Calif., closed out conference play second in stolen bases (eight), third in hits (24), and eighth in runs scored (12). In MWC games, she hit .348 with one double and one triple with seven multiple-hit affairs. She and Holland were the only Rebels to have played in all 66 contests. On the year, she led the team in hits (59) and stolen bases (20). She hit .288 with eight doubles, three triples and four home runs. She plated 22 RBI and scored 38 runs. She finished second on the team in multiple-hit games with 14 and sixth in multiple-run games with four.
Hull, a sophomore from Scottsdale, Ariz., ended conference play third in walks (13), sixth in on-base (.471), eighth in runs (12) and RBI (12). In MWC games, she hit .327 with 18 hits, two doubles and two home runs. She joined Holland and Bolinger as the only Rebels to have played in all 66 contests. Overall, she led the team in batting (.337), runs (47), doubles (11), home runs (13), RBI (42), total bases (110), slugging (.663), walks (43) and on-base (.491). She led the team in multiple-hit games (15) and multiple-RBI games (14).
The 20-member all-conference team includes five players from BYU, four players each from regular-season champion San Diego State and Colorado State, three players from UNLV and Utah, and one from New Mexico.
