LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's golf senior Matt Kinsinger was named a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, which was announced this week by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
A total of 96 players earned the honor in Division I and to be eligible, student-athletes must have been a junior or senior academically during the 2007-08 season, have competed in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participated in 70 percent of their team's competitive rounds or competed in the NCAA Championships, had a stroke average under 76.0 and maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college of university.
Kinsinger also earned Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors earlier this summer for the third time and earned his fourth straight MWC Scholar-Athlete award.
In May, Kinsinger was named academic all-district by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and was named to the All-MWC squad after the MWC Championship.
Kinsinger played in 11 tournaments during the 2007-08 season and finished the year with a 72.79 stroke average and shot 15 out of 33 rounds at par of better (12 under par). He turned in three top-10 finishes with his best coming in at third at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate.
