LAS VEGAS - Riding a three-game win streak which includes a 2-1 overtime win over previously ranked Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the UNLV women's soccer team has earned its first-ever top 25 ranking, as the Rebels are 25th in this week's Soccer America Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday morning.
Despite having only played two games at home this season through the first four weeks, the Rebels' 6-1-1 record ties for the best start in school history. UNLV also owns one win over a regionally ranked opponent on the road (Long Beach State), while Sunday's win over the UWM Panthers (then ranked No. 23 by Soccer America, No. 24 by the NSCAA) was the first over a ranked team this year, and third in the past two seasons.
Up next for UNLV is a three-game homestand, beginning with this weekend's UNLV Rebel Classic. UNLV will play Robert Morris on Friday night at 7 pm, while Idaho and Niagara play in the first game at 4:30 pm. On Sunday, Idaho and Robert Morris kick off at 9 am, with UNLV and Niagara playing at 11:30 am. All games will be on Peter Johann Memorial Field.
