PROVO, Utah - The UNLV Rebels (6-13 overall, 4-7 Mountain West) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead against the BYU Cougars (12-10, 6-4) Thursday night in Provo, Utah, but ultimately succumbed to a 3-1 (25-18, 15-25, 23-25, 14-25) decision. The Rebels were led by Samantha Richard's double-double and 15 kills by Kelsey Keeler, which tied her career-high.

The Cougars out-hit the Rebels by a .225 to .143 clip, although UNLV held the edge in kills (51 to 49). UNLV wound up making 13 more errors (30 to 17) in five more swings (147 to 142) than BYU. The Rebels hit their best during their first set victory with a .371 tally, but hit below .163 the remaining three sets. The Cougars, on the other hand, hit a lowly .122 in the opening frame, before amassing .200 or better tallies the remaining stanzas, including a .333 in the fourth and final set.

Richard led UNLV with her fifth double-double of the season, as she combined 38 assists with 12 digs. She also contributed four kills on .375 hitting.

Keeler matched her career-high of 15 kills, which she previously set against San Diego State a week ago. Six of her kills came in the first set. Besides her kill tallies, she added eight digs and three assists.

Erin Greenwood and Cursty Jackson joined Keeler in the double-digit category with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Greenwood had four blocks to Jackson's two.

Defensively, the Rebels had a trio reach double figures in digs. Kela Lau Hee led the triplets with 18, while Richard and Jeralynn Makaiwi joined the club with 12 and 10 of their own.

Kayla Walker led BYU with a double-double of her own with a conjoining of a team-high 13 kills and 10 digs. Walker had three assisted blocks, as well.

Kiana Rogers nearly one-upped Walker with a triple-double. Rogers led her squad with 38 assists, while adding nine digs and seven assisted blocks.

Melissa Lake Wright tied Lau Hee for the match-high in digs with 18.

The Rebels return to action on Saturday afternoon (1:00 pm MT/12:00 pm MT) with a match in Salt Lake City against the Utah Utes.
