TULSA, Okla. - UNLV sophomore Mehdi Bouras heads into Sunday's third round after an impressive opening day of Prequalifying at the D'Novo ITA Men's All-American Tennis Championships on Saturday at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Bouras, last year's Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, enjoyed a first-round bye and then rolled past Rusty Turpin of host Tulsa 6-2, 7-5 to advance.
The team's other representative, senior Luca Barlocchi, was placed to the Qualifying Draw, which begins Monday. The duo will also compete in doubles play later in the week. The preliminary tournaments feed into the 64-player, 32-doubles team main draws on Oct. 8-11.
