Leading Off: After hosting the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic, UNLV will hit the road for the first time in 2009, to an all too familiar destination. The Rebels will be making their fifth consecutive appearance in Cathedral City, Calif., at Oregon State's Cathedral City Classic (formerly named the Palm Springs Classic).

The Classic runs Feb. 19-22, but will only feature the Rebels in the final three days of the extravaganza. UNLV will play back-to-back games against Nebraska (3:30 pm) and Georgia Tech (6:00 pm) on Friday, Feb. 20. The team is scheduled for a single game on Saturday, Feb. 21, where they will face Florida at 10:30 am. On Sunday, Feb. 22, Long Island (11:00 am) and Cal Poly (1:00 pm) close out UNLV's slate of games in the Golden State.

On Deck: Following the Rebels first of four trips to the Golden State, they will return to Las Vegas to for two straight weekends at home. The squad will play host to the Eller Media Stadium Classic (Feb. 26-March 1).

UNLV will welcome Drake, Florida Atlantic, Loyola Marymount and Wright State to the friendly confines of Eller Media Stadium.

The Rebels will play a total of six games in the Classic with a pair against both Drake and Florida Atlantic. They will play only one contest against Wright State and Loyola Marymount.

Weekend Recap: The UNLV Rebels had a rough go off it at their own Louisville Slugger Desert Classic (Feb. 12-15). The Rebels went 2-3 with wins over Southern Mississippi (UNLV 6-2) and Saint Louis (UNLV 18-3 in five) sandwiching a loss to then-#4/4 UCLA (UCLA 9-7). On Sunday, UNLV's high-powered offense went silent in consecutive losses to Kentucky (UK 7-1) and then-#18/21 Nevada, Reno (UNR 9-0 in five).

The Rebels had four players rack up a .300 batting average or better (minimum three hits). Elena Fata led the way with her .375 average, while Ashli Holland and Brittany Bolinger followed closely behind with their identical .357s. Kendall Fearn rounded out the quartered with her .300 tally.

In the circle, Jessica O'Connor was the top hurler for UNLV, as she posted a 2-1 record. O'Connor started three contests and threw 14.1 innings. She defeated Southern Mississippi (Feb. 13) and Saint Louis (Feb. 14), before losing to Nevada, Reno (Feb. 15).

Runs, Runs, Runs: The 2009 Rebels are in rarified air when it comes to run production in the program's history, dating back to 1985. This year's squad has scored an astounding 62 runs, which is only bested by the 1995 Women's College World Series team in that same nine-game time frame. The 1995 squad scored 63 runs through its first nine.

After week one, UNLV had scored the third most runs through a four-game time frame with 30.
