Final Stats
SACRAMENTO - The UNLV Rebels (22-8) scattered a school-record 20 hits, while extending its winning streak to 10 games with their 18-0, five-inning victory over the Dartmouth Big Green (5-6) Friday morning at the Capital Classic in Sacramento, Calif. More importantly, the team has now tied the school record for wins with only one loss sprinkled into the mix with 16 out of 17. Every offensive starter for the Rebels collected at least one hit with Kendall Fearn and Ashli Holland knocking around three apiece.
UNLV got out of the gates quickly with three runs in the first inning. Following the first two outs being recorded, Jaci Hull began the offensive with a single to second and came around to score the game's first run on Fearn's first double of the contest. Following a walk to Elena Fata, Holland delivered a single to right that scored Fearn and moved Fata to third. Brittany Meade closed out the scoring with a single towards the hole at short.
The three runs were all that the Rebel hurlers would need, as they pitched their seventh shutout of the season and second consecutive combined feat. Jessica O'Connor (8-2) picked up the win in 3.0 innings of work with three stikeouts and one hit allowed. Amber Petersen entered the game in the fourth and tossed the final two frames with two hits give up.
The Rebels kept extending their lead with scores in each subsequent inning. They scored four in the second, eight in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Holland and Meade led the RBI department for UNLV with three apiece. Brittany Bolinger, Laura Briones and Fearn racked up two each.
Fata topped out all scorers with four runs. Bri Bernardi, Tara Bendt, Nichols and Fearn scored twice, as well.
As a whole, the offense hit at a .571 clip, as they racked up 17 singles and three doubles.
UNLV is back in action Friday afternoon (3:00 pm), when they face #10/07 California at Shea Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State.
