Leading Off: The UNLV Rebels are back in action this weekend, as they host their fourth and final home tournament of 2009.

The Rebels will hold its four-team UNLV Invitational on March 6-8 and welcome Notre Dame, Texas Tech and UC Santa Barbara to Las Vegas.

There is a total of eight games on the docket with UNLV participating in four. The Rebels will play single contests against Texas Tech and Notre Dame, while taking on UCSB twice.

On Deck: Following the conclusion of the UNLV Invitational, the Rebels will become road warriors for two weekends.

UNLV will play back-to-back weekends in San Jose and Sacramento, Calif. The National Invitational Softball Tournament (March 13-15) is up first, while the Capital Classic (March 20-21) follows. In San Jose, UNLV will play Canisius, Sacramento State, Long Beach State, San Jose State and UC Davis in the three-day affair.

Weekend Recap: The UNLV Rebels went 5-1 last weekend (Feb. 26-March 1) in the Eller Media Stadium Tournament. The team coupled a win over Cal Poly in the Cathedral City Classic with its five in the EMST to notch a six-game winning streak. Unfortunately, a loss to Florida Atlantic in the tourney's final game ended the run.

The team defeated Drake (twice), Wright State, Loyola Marymount and split with FAU.

Offensively speaking, the Rebels had six players rack up .300 or better batting averages with Ashli Holland leading the way with her .471 tally. Jaci Hull joined Holland in the .400-club with a .412 figure of her own. Tara Bendt (.375), Marissa Nichols (.333), Korin Cuico (.333) and Kendall Fearn (.313) rounded out the six pack.

In the circle, the Rebel hurlers went 4-1 and recorded two saves to go along with their miniscule 1.66 ERA.

Traci Odegard and Stephanie Bregante were the top pitchers, on the weekend, as they both went 2-0 in the circle. Odegard owned a 0.00 ERA in 14.0 innings of work and tossed in a save, as well. Bregante had a 1.85 ERA in 11.1 innings.
