LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Rebels (14-8) stayed perfect on the day, as they defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-14) in their second game of the UNLV Invitational on Friday by a 6-0 margin. All six Rebel runs came via the long ball, while Stephanie Bregante held Tech's bats in check throughout the game.
The Rebels got solo homers from Elena Fata in the second, Jaci Hull in the third and Brittany Meade in the fourth to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
In the sixth, Brittany Bolinger stepped to the plate with two on and promptly cranked the fourth UNLV home run of the day.
Stephanie Bregante (3-1) picked up her second complete game of the year, while pitching her second shutout, as well. Bregante held the Tech bats at-bay, as she allowed only three hits, while striking out nine and walking three.
More impressive, is the fact that Tech entered the game after scoring eight runs and scattering 14 hits earlier in a win against UC Santa Barbara.
Ashly Jacobs (4-6) took the loss for Tech in 6.0 innings of work. Jacobs allowed six runs, three earned, on 10 hits. She struck out five, but walked four.
UNLV is back in action Saturday afternoon, as they face UC Santa Barbara at 2:30 pm.
