ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The UNLV women's track and field team wrapped up a productive two days in New Mexico, as several Rebels posted top-10 finishes at the New Mexico Invitational on Saturday, which was held at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
It was the second of two meets that the Rebels competed in over the weekend, as the first was the Lobo Challenge, which saw UNLV student-athletes combine for 14 top-eight finishes. The convention center is the same track that will host the 2010 Mountain West Conference Championships at the end of February.
The highest finisher for the Rebels was senior distance runner Bailey Kuestermeyer, who came in second place in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:17.02. Also on the track, Kelsey Williamson finished fifth in the 400 meter with a time of 56.19 and Candise Maxwell came in seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.17.
In the field events sophomore Amanda Bingson set a personal best in the weight throw, coming in fourth place with a distance of 54-4.00, which is the second-best mark in school history. Deja Edwards added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 37-10.00.
