LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Four UNLV players received their first career all-conference honor, as the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Soccer teams were announced on Wednesday night by the league. Senior forward Stephen Sifuentes and sophomore forward Nick Marshall were named to the first team, while sophomore midfielder Jonny Espinoza was a second team selection and sophomore defender Mike Mota received Honorable Mention.
Sifuentes, a native of Fresno, Calif., leads the Rebels and is tied for fourth in the MPSF this season with 15 points off six goals and three assists. Marshall, from Tucson, Ariz., has totaled five goals and two assists this year, giving him 12 points for the season, good for a tie for sixth in the league.
Espinoza, a native of Carlsbad, Calif., is third on the squad with four goals and two assists for 10 points, which places him tied for 10th in the MPSF. Mota, from Las Vegas, rounds out the all-conference honorees for the Rebels, as he started all 18 games and scored one goal, which came in UNLV's 1-0 upset win at regular-season champion Denver.
The Rebels open play in the 2010 MPSF Tournament on Thursday morning, as they face New Mexico in the quarterfinals at 11 am in Sacramento, Calif.
