LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team entered both the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' and Associated Press polls on Monday following the Runnin' Rebels' championship at the 76 Classic in Anaheim, Calif., over the weekend.
UNLV went 3-0 at the tournament, recording victories over Tulsa (80-71), Murray State (69-55) and Virginia Tech (71-59).
UNLV, which has a 6-0 record for the second straight season, has entered the national polls in November for the second straight year. The Runnin' Rebels are No. 23 in the coaches' rankings and are No. 24 in AP.
Fellow Mountain West Conference members San Diego State and BYU are also in the rankings, marking the second year in league history that it had three teams in the rankings during the same week. This is also the earliest in a season that the conference has three teams in the polls at the same time (last time was Feb. 8, 2009). San Diego State is No. 17 (AP) and No. 19 (coaches'), while BYU is No. 21 (AP) and No. 25 (coaches').
The Runnin' Rebels will travel to Normal, Ill., for their next game as they take on Illinois State on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. PST. The Mountain West-Missouri Valley Challenge game can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/98.9 FM.
