SAN DIEGO - The UNLV men's tennis team suffered through a big rain delay, skipped doubles play and then lost their match 4-2 to San Diego late Sunday.
The Rebels fell to 5-5 while the Toreros improved to 5-1.
UNLV got its points from a pair of freshmen: Johannes Markel outlasted Thibaut Visey in the third slot, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1; and Kasper Konyves swept Nils Schive 6-3, 6-2 down at No. 5. The visitor's top player, 108th-ranked Mehdi Bouras, was upset by Dean Jackson at the top of the lineup, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6.
Next up, the Rebels will look for their first road victory of the season when they play at Fresno State on Feb. 28.
