Chad Brown Named Acting Head Coach

Feb. 26, 2010

LAS VEGAS - Chad Brown has been named acting men's soccer head coach at UNLV, the athletic department announced on Friday. Brown takes over for Mario Sanchez, who resigned from his position earlier this month to join the Louisville coaching staff.

Brown has been an assistant on the Rebels' staff for the past four years, having come to Las Vegas with Sanchez in 2006. He helped UNLV improve its record every season, including this year's 8-7-2 mark, its first winning season since 2002.

Prior to UNLV, Brown spent seven years as head coach for the Crossfire Premier Soccer Club, beginning in 1999. Brown is a 1999 graduate of Fresno State, where he was a two-time all-conference selection, and he played for the Seattle Sounders in the professional A League in 2004-2006.

A search for a permanent head coach will be conducted this spring.
