In the Utah contest, the Rebels jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after one inning of action only to see the Utes tie things up in the second. The teams traded runs in the third for the game's second tie. UNLV erupted for eight runs in the fourth highlighted by a two-run home run by Marissa Nichols and a grand slam by Holland.

The Rebels clawed their way for every run, while the Cougars got six RBI from Angeline Quiocho, who homered three times in the game. UNLV scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth when BYU's left fielder dropped a fly ball hit by Jaci Hull and allowed Holland to score from second.

In the loss to BYU on "Senior Day", the Rebels scored in five of the game's seven innings, but it wasn't enough as the Cougars scored at least three runs in four different frames. Holland drove in three and scored twice in the loss.
