ATHENS, Ga. - UNLV tennis standout Kristina Nedeltcheva saw her record-breaking college career end with a three-hour marathon loss in Wednesday's first round of the NCAA Singles Championship at a muggy Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Nedeltcheva, ranked 45th nationally, started strong by grabbing a long first-set tiebreaker, 11-9, over UCLA's Andrea Remynse, but then saw the 26th-ranked Bruin rally. Both of the final sets were tied 4-4 before Remynse closed the door each time in the 6-7 (11-9), 6-4, 6-4 final.

"This was a great college tennis match today that could have gone either way," said UNLV head coach Kevin Cory. "We came up a bit short in the end but I was real proud of the effort out there. This ended a stellar career for Kristina, who will go down as one of the top student-athletes in school history, both on the courts and in the classroom."

Nedeltcheva closes her senior season with a singles record of 28-10 and a career mark of 90-40, which ranks her fourth in UNLV history. The native of Sofia, Bulgaria, also leaves as the program's all-time doubles champion with a 98-33 slate.
