COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's soccer team moved to 8-3 on the season thanks to a 1-0 victory over Weber State on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Air Force Invitational at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. The victory marked the second time in school history the Rebels have posted eight wins by the end of September.
The day's lone goal came in the 22nd minute, when Macy Jo Harrison headed in a shot off a pass from Ashleigh Shoughro. That goal would stand up for the rest of the game, as the Rebels held Weber State (1-10) to just seven total shots. WSU had only two on goal, both of which were stopped by Rebel keeper Kylie Wassell on her way to picking up the shutout.
UNLV finished with a 10-7 edge on shots, and both teams had four corner kicks in the game. Ryann Waldman was in goal for WSU, and finished with four saves. Named to the all-tournament team from UNLV was Shoughro, Amanda Forrester, Sarah Naranjo and Caitlin Allen.
The Rebels will return to action on Friday with their Mountain West Conference opener, as they will host New Mexico at Peter Johann Memorial Field at 7 pm.
