LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - After taking a weekend off from competition, the UNLV cross country team hits the road for the 2011 Northidge Invitational, which will be run on the campus of Cal State Northridge. The women's 6K course features loops around several grass recreation fields and will also run the perimeter of the Matador Track & Field Complex. The women's race is set to start at 8:00 am, followed by the men's 8K at 8:45 am.
This will be the fourth and final tune-up for the Rebels before venturing off to Fort Collins, Colo., for the 2011 Mountain West Championship (Oct. 29) in two weeks. UNLV's last outing came at home on Oct. 1 in its own Desert Invitational at Veteran's Memorial Park in nearby Boulder City. The Rebels have finished fourth in their last two outings, including the Aztec Invitational on Sept. 17. Saturday's race will be the first 6K run by UNLV this season.
The women's race will feature 139 competitors from UNLV, Houston, USC, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Bakersfield and the host Cal State Northridge.
