Box Score

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Four different Air Force (7-4-1, 1-2-1 MPSF) players scored to give the Falcons a 4-0 win over UNLV (2-9, 1-3 MPSF) in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's soccer action on Friday afternoon at Peter Johann Field.

The Falcons' defense was key in the first half, in which it limited the Rebels to just one shot total for the first 45 minutes. The game's first goal came from Kevin Durr in the 23rd minute, a shot to the top left corner off an assist by Garrett Getschow. The edge went to 2-0 for Air Force in the 32nd minute when Zachary Modly scored from the middle of the box off an assist by Ben Chavez.

UNLV turned up the attack in the second half, getting off nine shots, but could not come up with a score. The game was still in doubt until a controversial goal by Air Force in the 66th minute off a quick restart following a whistle. Getschow scored the goal for the Falcons, putting Air Force up 3-0, and the Rebels lost a defender who was red carded while arguing the call. Stuck playing a man down for the rest of the game, the Rebels allowed a fourth goal in the 68th minute, a header by Eric Wilson off a free kick from Durr, to account for the final 4-0 score.

Air Force held a 17-10 edge on shots for the night, and 10-2 on shots on goal. The two shots on goal for the Rebels were both from Salvador Bernal. UNLV did hold a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks. Ryan Harding played the entire night in goal for UNLV, coming up with six saves, while Matt Underwood made two stops for Air Force to earn the shutout.

UNLV returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 16, when it hosts Denver at 1 pm.
