LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV junior midfielder Macy Jo Harrison has been named the Mountain West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Rebels to a 5-0 rout of Boise State on Oct. 14 the league office announced on Monday. It's the first career honor for Harrison, and the second by a Rebel this season.
Harrison, a native of Napa, Calif., broke out of her scoring slump this season with a five-point game, including a pair of goals just four minutes apart midway through the second half that put the game away for the Rebels. She also posted one assist in the game, on Caitlin Allen's game-winner in the 12th minute that gave UNLV a 1-0 lead. The 5-0 win set a new school record for largest margin of victory ever in a conference game, topping a 4-0 win over Air Force in the 2008 season.
UNLV (6-8-2, 2-1 MWC) will play a pair of games this weekend, beginning with a Friday contest in Colorado Springs, Colo., against Air Force at 5 pm (PT). That will be followed by a Sunday, Oct. 23 game in Laramie against Wyoming at 12 pm (PT).
