Week Eleven Release Get Acrobat Reader

Leading Off: The UNLV Rebels will only play once this week with an afternoon affair at the San Diego State on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm. The game signifies the end of the first half of Mountain West Conference. UNLV will have eight games remaining in both the season and league play after this weekend.

On Deck: The UNLV Rebels hit the road to open the second half of Mountain West Conference play with a visit to the Beehive State. This trip will be the last for UNLV to Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah as league foes of the Utah Utes and BYU Cougars.

The Rebels will play Utah in Salt Lake City on Thursday, April 28 (4:00 pm MT/3:00 pm PT) before playing a pair at BYU in Provo on Friday, April 29 (6:00 pm MT/5:00 pm PT) and Saturday, April 30 (2:00 pm MT/1:00 pm PT).

Looking Back A Weekend: The UNLV Rebels went 1-2 last weekend in home contests against the BYU Cougars and Utah Utes. All three games were only played to five innings, as each ended in a run-rule decision.

Last Thursday, BYU knocked off UNLV by a 14-0 score. UNLV and Utah split a pair of games with the home team winning the first, 9-1, before succumbing in the second, 14-1.

Six Rebels recorded two or more hits and owned a batting average of .333 or higher on the weekend. Bri Bernardi owned a .667 average off 2-of-3 hitting. Paige Emerson and Tayler Aleman were second and third with .444 (four hits) and .429 (three hits), respectively.

Amanda Oliveto went 1-2 in the circle and owned an ERA of 5.91 in 10.2 innings of work. Oliveto started all three and went the distance in the first Utah affair.

Turn On Your TVs: The UNLV Rebels will make two appearances on television this season with both taking place in Las Vegas. UNLV's contest against San Diego State on Sunday, May 8 (12:30 pm) will be broadcast live by CBS Sports Network, formerly CBS College Sports Network. A week later, the Rebels tussle with the Colorado State Rams on Saturday, May 14 (1:00 pm) will be aired by The MountainWest Sports Network (The Mtn.).

30th Season On Tap: The UNLV Rebels began their 30th season this year after the university began to sponsor the sport in 1980. Shortly thereafter the program went dark for two seasons (1983, 1984) before being brought back on a permanent basis in 1985.

In the 29 years leading up to the 2011 campaign, UNLV made nine NCAA Tournament appearances, which included three visits to Oklahoma City, Okla., for the Women's College World Series (1990, 1991 and 1995).

The Rebels have had 20 NFCA All-Americans and 48 All-West Region selections.

In all, the team has composed a winning percentage of .503 with an overall record of 820-811-3.

Nationally Speaking...2011: The 2011 UNLV Rebels rank 50th or better in five statistical categories kept by the NCAA in games played through April 17.

UNLV's highest ranking is 22nd in slugging percentage (.508). They rank 28th in home runs per game (1.11); 30th in both batting average (.315) and doubles per game (1.49) and 50th in scoring (5.38).

Individually, five players (Tayler Aleman, Ashli Holland, Stefany Valentino, Tayler Van Acker and Amanda Oliveto) rank within the top 100 in at least two individual categories.

Aleman's highest ranking is 23rd in batting average (.435). She is also 45th in slugging (.788), 60th in toughest to strikeout (17.0) and 98th in on-base percentage (.484).

Holland is 47th in doubles per game (.3) and 100th in toughest to strikeout (14.3).

Valentino is 90th in on-base percentage (.487) and 93rd in batting average (.398).

Van Acker is 56th in on-base percentage (.509) and 96th in walks (.57).

Oliveto is 31st in victories (18.0), 59th in strikeouts (156.0) and 69th in shutouts (4.0).
