In the UNLV men's soccer team's only game of the week, the Rebels will travel to picturesque San Luis Obispo, California to take on the Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday at 7 pm. The game against the 'Stangs will be the first of three games on the road to start the 2011 season.

The Rebels own a perfect 4-0 record against Cal Poly, with their latest win in 2009. The Rebels were able to squeak out a 1-0 victory against the No. 23 Mustangs. UNLV's lone goal came from, then a freshman, Nick Marshall, who found the back of the net in the 109th-minute. It was Marshall's first career goal in what has been a spectacular career.

Marshall, who finished last season second on the team in goals scored, assists and total points, is joined by senior returnee Richard Abrego and junior returnee Jonny Espinoza. Abrego finished tied for first in assists last season while Espinoza had the highest shot percentage.

Scouting The 'Stangs
Cal Poly finished third in the Big West last season with an 8-7-3 overall record. The Mustangs were picked to take second in the Big West Conference Coaches Poll, garnering one first place vote, behind UC Santa Barbara. The Mustangs are 11-6-0 in season openers and boast a 12-4-1 home opener record. The Mustangs are returning seven regular starts from last season, but also add the 27th-ranked incoming freshman class.

Next Time Out
UNLV will stay on the road next weekend as it will meet Cal State Northridge (Sept. 1, 7 pm) in the Cal State Northridge Labor Day Classic. The Rebels will also play Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 3, 4:30 pm) in that tournament.
