Sept. 19, 2012

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -

UNLV men's soccer weekly release

Coming off one of its biggest wins in the past three years, the UNLV men's soccer team will now close out its non-conference schedule with a pair of road games this weekend. First up will be a Friday, Sept. 21 contest at San Diego State with a 3 pm start, while on Sunday, Sept. 23, UNLV will face Sacramento State in a 1 pm contest. Live stats for both games will be available through a link on UNLVRebels.com.

All About The Rebels
UNLV (2-5-1) won its second game of the season on Sept. 16, a 5-1 rout of Canisius, who had come into the contest receiving votes in the NSCAA Top 25. Senior forward Nick Marshall posted five points in the game (two goals, one assist), and that was good enough to earn him MPSF Player of the Week honors, the first Rebel to receive the award since the 2009 season.

Scouting San Diego State
The Aztecs are 3-2-1 on the year, and have won two straight, victories over Nebraska Omaha and North Florida. SDSU is currently 10th in the Far West regional rankings.

Scouting Sacramento State
The Hornets are 2-4-1 on the year, and have played three other MPSF teams thus far this year, with back-to-back losses San Jose State and CSU Bakersfield along with a win over Seattle. Sac State has scored only six goals this season.

Next Time Out
UNLV will open conference play with a road contest at CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7 pm.
