UNLV men's soccer weekly release
The UNLV men's soccer team will play at home for the first time this weekend with a pair of home games at Peter Johann Memorial Field, as part of two tripleheaders with the UNLV women's squad. The Rebels will play Cal State Northridge on Friday at 1 pm, followed by two women's games at 4:30 pm and 7 pm (UNLV-Sacramento State). On Sunday afternoon, UNLV will play the third game of the day at 4:30 pm against UC Riverside, while there were be two women's games before that at 10:30 am and 1 pm (UNLV-Montana).
All About The Rebels
UNLV is looking to break into the win column for the first time this season after three one-goal losses along with a 1-1 tie against Loyola Marymount. All four games were away from home for the Rebels. Junior forward and Las Vegas native Joaquin Rivas leads the team in scoring with a pair of goals, which matched his previous career goal output coming into the season. Joe Vitale has played all four games in the net for UNLV, and has a .137 GAA.
Scouting Cal State Northridge
The Matadors are 2-2 on the year, winning their first two games at home before dropping a pair on the road this past weekend at Georgetown and Loyola. Sagi Lev-Ari is the team's leading scorer with three goals for six points.
Scouting UC Riverside
The Highlanders are receiving votes in the NSCAA Top 25 poll after beginning the year 4-0, and have outscored their opponents by a 10-1 margin.
Next Time Out
UNLV will host its one tournament of the season, the UNLV Nike Invitational, on Sept. 14 and 16. The Rebels will face Syracuse on Sept. 14 at 7 pm and Canisius at 1 pm on Sept. 16.
