LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf senior Kevin Pennerhas been named to the PING All-West Region team for the second straight year as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) handed out its annual awards Tuesday.
Earlier this season Penner was selected All-Mountain West for the third consecutive season. Last year he was named honorable mention All-America.
The Sammamish, Wash., native, earned the individual title at the MW Championship earlier this month in Tucson, Ariz.. He leads this year's UNLV squad in scoring with an average of 72.50 over 32 rounds. In 11 tournaments played this season, he has recorded six top-10 finishes, including four in the top five.
Penner ranks eighth in the conference in scoring average and has recorded eight rounds this season in the 60s.
A total of 155 players were named all-region across six regions this year - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West. Members of the all-region teams are automatically eligible for PING All-America honors.
