LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team will participate Friday at the NCAA West Regionals hosted by Stanford University at the Stanford Golf Course. A total of 38 programs, including the Rebels, will race in the 6K scheduled for 11:00 am in Palo Alto, Calif.

The West Regional, one of nine contested across the country, is a precursor to the NCAA Championships that will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 22. A total of 18 teams - two from each regional - and 36 individuals - top four from each regional not on a qualifying team - for both genders will qualify for the national meet. Additionally, 13 squads and two individuals will be selected for at-large berths by an NCAA subcommittee.

UNLV will send Amanda Berg, Rebecca Hobby, Vannessa Martinez, Miranda Menzies, Spencer Moore and Nikki Regalado to The Farm.

The Scarlet & Gray last ran to a ninth-place finish at the 2014 Mountain West Championships in Fresno, Calif., on Oct. 31. Moore led the Rebel contingent with a final time of 21:27.90, which placed her 26th overall. Regalado was 45th in 22:13.70. Martinez (53rd/22:21.70), Hobby (59th/22:28.50), Menzies (84th/24:15.30) and Berg (85th/24:19.30) also ran in the league meet for UNLV.

"We are excited and ready to compete at the West Regionals at Stanford," said cross country head coach Jebreh Harris. "Our Rebels are motivated for the opportunity to compete against some great programs. I am looking for the team to rise to the occasion and put our best effort forward."

The Mountain West will be represented by five of its members with UNLV being joined by Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State and San Jose State.

Boise State, who is ranked 25th in the USTFCCCA Poll, is one of six nationally ranked squads in the West Regional. The other five are all from Pac-12 institutions: #3 Oregon, #10 Stanford, #15 Washington, #24 Arizona State and #27 UCLA.
